6th Grade Math
Course Description
The primary focal areas in 6th grade math are: classification of rational numbers, comparison and ordering of numbers, operations of fractions, operations of integers, proportional reasoning with ratio and rates, equivalent expressions, one-variable equations and inequalities, algebraic representations of two-variable relationships, geometry, measurement, data analysis, and personal financial literacy. There are various ways to solve each math problem, and the goal is for students to discover the methods that work best for them. In this class, math manipulatives, small group instruction, interactive notebooks, peer collaboration, direct instruction, formative assessment, extension activities, independent practice time, and content-related songs/raps will be utilized to help students master content.
