Poetry Book Projects

Poetry Book deadline was October 27, 2016. I have a lot of students who have not turned in their projects. This is a MAJOR grade and Progress Reports go out next week. So, grades will be submitted by 3:59pm Friday, November 4, 2016. Please encourage your child to get their work in especially, if he or she is participating in extracurricular events such as Cheer, Dance, Athletics, UIL, Kick Start, etc. Non-passing grades affects their eligibility to participate.

Parents, we are beginning the novel, "The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas" by John Boyne. The students will be learning a lot about the situations and conditions during the Holocaust. I have copies of the book in class so you do not need to worry about purchasing the book. I have also attached a link for the book on my webpage for at-home reading.

Thank you for your cooperation!

PRE-AP-

Dear Parents, we have began reading the memoir, "Night" by Elie Wiesel. If your child has not purchased the book, he or she needs to do so. I have been allowing them to read it electronically on the Chromebooks. But, I only have a limited number of Chromebooks and not enough for everyone in class to use.  I am also going to include a link for the book and will try to have some copies made. But let's work together to ensure our children have all the tools they need to be successful.

I have also attached a link for the book on my page for at-home reading.

Thank you for your cooperation!

The Giver.pdf

Dear Parents and Students:

I have added a link for "The Giver" by Lois Lowry to be accessible for home reading. Students are required to read this novel and to complete Study Guides over Chapters from the book. This tool makes the book available from any tech device at any time.

Hope this helps!

Mrs. J.

The first novel that we will be reading is "The Giver" by Lois Lowry. I have a class set of novels in my room that students may read in class or can check out to take home. When books are checked out, the student MUST come after 8th Period to check out the book and return the book before 1st Period the next day. They can check a book out as often as he or she likes but MUST follow this procedure so that I will not be short of novels during class periods.

Parents, if you feel your child will benefit more from you purchasing the book, feel free to do so. I have also posted a link to an online version that is free.
Parents:

ALL Pre-AP students need to have this novel, "Divergent" by Veronica Roth and should have began reading the first five chapters. Next week, August 29-September 2, they will be starting the first set of Study Guide questions for Chapters 1-5. I don't want any student to fall behind so please make sure they have purchase the novel and is reading at home. The book can be hardback, paperback or electronic book.

Thank you,
Miss Jordan
